Life is precious. But not all women have access to the support and resources they need for a healthy pregnancy and baby. For 50 years the Sacramento Life Center has offered a safe place for women to find the compassion and support they need to become a parent. As an obstetrician for over 25 years, Dr. Phelan sees daily how precious life is and supports the Sacramento Life Center’s mission. That is why Dr. Phelan is competing in the Canyons 100k Trail Race on April 23, 2022. The Canyons 100k, is one of the most difficult trail races in the country.
Considered the birthplace of mountain ultra trail running the Canyons 100k is run over the most scenic and difficult sections of the Western States trail. The 100 kilometer (62.2 mile) route is from downtown Auburn, CA to China Wall staging area campground. This point to point race has over 16,000 feet of ascent. Runners will enjoy great panorama vistas of the Sierras. Crossing streams and old wooden bridges through historic settlements like Michigan Bluff and Deadwood Cemetery, runners will travel over the same trails prospectors and mules did on their quest for the mother lode over 150 years ago.
"By running this race I hope to raise $10,000 to expand Health and Nutrition services for new moms during the 50th anniversary year of the Sacramento Life Center, " states Dr. Phelan. We thank him for his dedication and hope you will support his run by donating at the link below.
